Embracing a Windy Day at Papago Park

I met this gorgeous mama at Modern Milk when I presented to Happy Mom School about maximizing the use of your mobile device to photograph their baby’s first year of life.

Their baby was born in the midst of the pandemic and they never had the opportunity to have a newborn session. He was now about six months old and they wanted to have their first ever family photo shoot. We talked locations and decided upon Papago Park. She was new to the area and wanted to have the desert present in the background.

With the exception of the heat, the Phoenix and Scottsdale area have very few bad weather days. A monsoon here, dust storm there, but nothing major. And then our photoshoot day showed up and the winds were crazy.

But I swear, this family showed up ready to love on one another and embrace the elements. Their little one was not sure what to do in the new environment, but enjoyed taking in the rocks and feelings of wind upon his face. I mean check out his hair in the wind!!!

Becoming a parent can be a rough transition when you realize that so much is out of your control. I know for me, I’ve learned to control what I can (hello, diaper bag of all the things I may possibly need) and learn to roll with the other crazy things we run into (hello, toddler who steps in his own poop and then tracks it through the house).

I swear, this beautiful family just embraced the wind and rolled with the time we had together. It was a truly wonderful thing to capture and experience.

And of course, the wind led to extra snuggles- and who could be upset about that?? ;)

Ready to have your own perfectly, imperfect love story preserved? Let’s collaborate and make it happen.
